Ngozi (Burundi): start up of the local production of clean cooking stove ELSA

Thanks to the support of the European Union and AVSI, and the contribution of experts from the Universities of Padua, Udine and Cornell University (USA), we are glad to announce that the local production of ELSA pyrolytic clean cooking stoves has started in Ngozi (Burundi). The first artisans have completed their training and begun to build the first 40 pilot stoves which will be distributed to the families and will be used to produce the biochar for the first application campaign, scheduled for next winter. It is a first result of the project for the introduction of biochar systems in the provinces of Ngozi and Kayanza. More will come soon. In 2022 the local production of ELSA clean cooking stoves will improve and all the families living in the area will have the possibility to get clean stoves for cooking which, at the same time, produce the biochar.
